My name is Rana (aka Angel) and I was born and raised in New York. I originally started out as an apprentice to a painting contractor. Because of my work, I learned to use color and shadows in everything I did. Later, I began painting on canvas and doing photography work for both myself and others. Naturally, as time went on, I discovered even more that brought joy to my world.
I gave birth to 5 beautiful children (and they gave birth to my three gorgeous grandchildren). What I didn't know, though, at the time, was how each birth would alter my life. I was one of the few lucky parents that was able to 'see' what my children were seeing.
Through them, I not only became aware of the good in this world, but sometimes the bizarre, and yet at other times, even the bad things that most avoid. Everything my children made me aware of...well, it was always interesting. I eventually learned to look at life through the eyes of a child. That doesn't mean I acted like one, just that I could see life as it was...always interesting and always evolving into something even more than most can even imagine.
I think most people just forget to
look at this world and all it has to offer. Well, through the
eyes of a child, I was capable of looking at
this world in awe of its majestic beauty...aware of it's depth and all
its wonders. I can only HOPE to
capture that beauty and awe on canvas, in my murals, and through my
camera lens, so that I can share it with others. My art has
become a continuous, ongoing growth and evolution of myself and
that which I see daily. I
hope you enjoy my site as much as I enjoy creating each piece.
My Favorite Quote
My grandfather (a truly inspiring artist,) told me, when I was a
little girl, something that I will never forget. He said, 'Some
artists are taught, and some already know inside their hearts.'
I sincerely believe he knew what it took to become a 'true'
artist. I doubt I will ever be as good as him, but I hope to be
able to express myself, as he did...from the heart!
A Bit about her Work
Each piece shows water tones of deep green and blue hues, often
with sparkles of silver speckles shimmering through them.
Shadows are soft and velvety, and beckon to one's senses. She is
the originator of the 'dab
technique' that makes each piece softly capture one's mind, as
it engulfs you into its world. She has made several composite
pieces, joining both painting and graphic arts, to create a
mixed media of sorts that cries, "I am what I am!" Rana's goal:
To capture
'Art from the heart' and share the beauty
she sees with others.
Rana's work can be seen on websites such as: Art.com, Artrising.com, Yessy.com, EBSQ, Amazon.com, and Finerworks.com (just to name a few.) She's won several awards for her work, and her art has been presented in several art books across the nation.
